The Rise of Mersoon Rising

I completed writing Mersoon Rising long before our mixed race president ran for office and before I’d even heard his name. It was quite a coincidence this book presents a System Alliance Overseer election caught in an uproar about a candidate who is a half DOE  (Descendant of Earth) and half alien human. The election progresses and uncovers a political system brimming with extortion, deceptions and rebellion. At the same time, Mersoon’s constant conflicts ebb and flow and personal relationships sizzle along the sidelines.

I nearly decided not to send this book out for publication. Then on the off chance I might get some feedback, I sent an excerpt to a well-established author for his opinion. He encouraged me by saying simply; it appeared very publishable and later that it was “feisty” text. I made sure to recognize him on the acknowledgment page of Mersoon Rising.

From a review of the galley

In a review, Entertainment Editor Amber Bogins of Michigan Chronicle says, “Without a doubt, Shirley G. Coleman’s debut novel will keep you consistently turning through the 700+ pages anxious to find out what happens next in this strange universe with alien characters and drives and emotions that are familiar and human.” (June 17, 2013). Thank you, Amber!

Mersoon Rising now appears on Amazon. Wow, it’s like a little planet in an infinite  galaxy!
